Karen began teaching in a one room school at Elm Valley School in Waupaca County and finished her career teaching 4th and 6th grade in the Montello School System for over 30 years. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and loved making quilts as well as fishing on Lake Michigan for salmon. Karen made countless afghans and dozens of quilts for gifts for special events for family and friends and for Project Linus. She made many memories with her family camping and on the pontoon.
Karen is survived by her husband of 57 years, Russell and two daughters: Janette Schultz of Montello and Joyce (David) Singer of Fitchburg as well as two grandsons: Zachary and Jeremy. She is also survived by siblings: Marvin (Judie) Whitney, Betty Jones, James (Linda) Whitney as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Karen is preceded in death by her parents, infant sister, Mary Lou and brother-in-law, Jack Jones.
A memorial service for Karen Schultz will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Packwaukee. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the hour of service. Pastor Larry Sheppard will officiate and inurnment will take place at a later date at Lakeside Cemetery in Waupaca. In lieu of flowers for herself, Karen’s wishes were for flowers to be sent to residents of nursing homes in her memory instead of to her own memorial service or donations to Budda-Box, P.O. Box 91, Westfield, WI 53964.
