Joan (Cooley) Hightower

Jodi was born in DeRidder, LA to Carl and Tressie Cooley, on January 12, 1941. She passed from this life on February 5, 2018. Her visitation will be Wednesday, February 7, from 4-8pm, and Thursday, February 8, from 9-10am at Chaddick Funeral Home, and Thursday, February 8, from 11am until time of service at Shady Grove Pentecostal Church. A celebration of life will be held Thursday, February 8, at 2pm at Shady Grove.

Interment will be at Whitaker Cemetery.

Rev. Jeff Phillips and Rev. Michael Bonds will officiate.

Jodi lived life in song and music with a love for all things around her. She loved bringing in the small things of nature, such as leaves and pinecones, to decorate her surroundings. She will be remembered mostly as “Momma Jo”. She had an infectious smile that could be felt and a hug that was sought out by many under stress.

Jodi is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Boyd Hightower; two brothers, Urshon and Coleman Cooley; sister, Evonne Cooley Jones; son, J.D. Milstead; and many family members.

She is survived by two daughters, Wytonya Willison and Chrstine McGowan; a daughter-in-law, Connie Milstead; nine grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
