Pamela Gail Coker Browning, 62, of Cleveland, TN, died Sunday, September 2nd, 2018 in her home after a battle with cancer. She was born July 14, 1956 in Aransas Pass, TX, to Rev. Bruce E. and Ruby Barber Coker. She graduated from Slaton High School in 1974, earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Lee College, Master’s Degree from the University of South Florida, and a Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee.

Pam spent her life in education, starting her career in Naples, FL. In 1989, she and her family moved to Cleveland as she began teaching for the Education Department at Lee College (now Lee University) where she would later chair the Department of Early Childhood, Elementary, and Special Education for 19 years, training thousands of teachers who now span the globe.

Pam is survived by her husband of 40 years, Gene Browning, two daughters, Melody (Brandon) Miles and Morgan (Mike) Schalk, as well as the joy of her life, her seven grandchildren: Chandler, Riley, Hudson, & Tate Miles, and Penny, James, & Evan Schalk.

The family will welcome friends and family Wednesday, September 5th at the Peerless Road Church from 4:00-6:00 pm. A celebration of Pam’s life will be held Thursday, September 6th at 4:00 pm in The Chapel at Lee University, 1020 N. Ocoee Street, officiated by Reverend Adam Jones, Dr. Laura Anderson, and Dr. Paul Conn. Burial will follow at Lee Cemetery in McDonald, TN.
