Ira "Soap" Harris, died Monday, October 7, 2013, at Pelham Parkway Nursing Home.

The graveside funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, October 12, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., at Oakview Cemetery. Pastor Robert Bennett and Reverend Jermaine King will officiate.

Flower attendants will be Keyanna Harris, Shemar Harris, Shontae Harris, Courtney Smith, Shalonda Smith.

Pallbearers will be Stacey Butler, Jr., Derrick Harris, Eddie Harris, Freddie Harris, Ira Lee Harris, Domonique Jackson, Airman Brandon Morgan, Starlie Odoms, Jerome Robinson, Lanorris Robinson, Philander Robinson.

Mr. Ira Harris, son of the late I. C. McCraw and Lillie Mae Brooks, was born July 5, 1938 in Meigs, Georgia. He confessed himself to Christ and was baptized at an early age.

Soap, as he was affectionately called, was employed with Cameron Head Construction for more than thirty years as a construction worker. Upon retirement he loved to sit under the tree and play a good game of checkers.

Preceding him in death include one son, Ira Harris, Jr.; two sisters, Angeline Nealy and Lillie C. Sullivan; brothers-in-law, Philander Robinson, Sr., Starlie Odoms.

Survivors include four sons, John (Erma Jeanette), Kenneth Ray (Sherion), Lamar (Angela) of Edison, Georgia, and Stacey (Sandra) of Camilla; one daughter, Terrie of Daytona Beach, Florida; fourteen grandchildren; several great grandchildren; a brother, John D. (Annie) McKelvin of Leslie, Georgia; a sister, Mary Louise Robinson of Camilla, Georgia; special nephews, Ira Lee Harris and Freddie Harris; a special niece, Phyllis Smith; other nieces and nephews; a special friend, Terry Graham.
