George was born on August 18, 1948 in Brownsville Tennessee the son of Robert Joe and
Ida (Nettles) Watkins.
George graduated from Eisenhower High School where he excelled in basketball. He worked for IBEW Local #51.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories: his children; Samantha D. Carter of Urbana, IL., George Watkins, Jr, and Ashley Watkins both of Las Vegas, NV., companion of 27 years, Elnora Coburn of West Peoria, IL.; sisters; Hazel (LC) Vorties and Edmonia Clark both of Decatur, IL. and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
George was preceded in death by his parents, sister; Lorene Cole, Ora Jean Watkins, Margaret Watkins, Lucy Stevenson; brothers, Sidney Mitchell and Robert Watkins.
