Randy Lee Scott was born to John and Lavera Scott on August 2, 1957. He grew up on the farm north of Westerville, and he attended school in Ansley, NE until he graduated in 1975. He had only wanted to farm, but his dad encouraged him to attend college for one year and then said he could go back to the farm, so he attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. He hated the first month and almost came home but was able to move from City Campus to East Campus where he finally found his niche and a roommate who became a lifelong friend. He decided to pursue a teaching degree, which evolved into something he loved. He graduated from UNL in the spring of 1979 and got his first teaching job in Arcadia, NE, where he started their first FFA Chapter. To his disbelief, he found that he loved teaching as much as farming and started a career that would last for years. Randy blessed many lives in his career choice. Teaching left his summers free to farm with his dad. Randy continued to teach in Arcadia until 1994, then continued his career in Ansley until he retired from teaching in 2014. While in Ansley, Randy started the first FFA Choir. During his career, Randy received the honor of Ag Teacher of the Year. Because of his love for "his kids" and his need to help them form their own career paths, he earned his counseling degree. Randy was instrumental in directing countless students in their chosen fields. Up until the day he passed away, Randy still received phone calls from students for advice.

After retiring from teaching, Randy went to work for Trotters Inc, eventually finding the perfect fit in being their safety director. This was a position that Randy thoroughly enjoyed, one where he could travel and meet a variety of people.

Randy joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in June 1991, and he and Melea were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on their anniversary in 1992. Once Randy decided on something, he was all in, and he became a devoted member and held many callings throughout his lifetime. Randy loved the gospel, and this was reflected in all his activities.

He met and married his eternal companion, Melea Sillivan, on August 8, 1980. To this union, six children were born. Randy was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He adored his family and was adamant about supporting them in all of their activities during their childhood. Many remember seeing Randy and Melea sitting in the stands with six small children at their nieces' and nephews' events.

Beyond his love of family and his teaching career, Randy was very patriotic and was an active member of the Sons of the American Legion, the American Legion Riders, and was extremely active in promoting the Custer County Fair. Randy blessed many lives and will be dearly missed.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, John "Jack" and Lavera Scott, and a brother, Gary. He leaves to mourn, his loving wife, Melea and his children and Grandchildren. Brigham and Bobbi Jo Scott (Ariata & RyDell), Kade and Mandy Scott (Sutton & Bexley), Talon and Cami Scott ( Hesston, Legacee, & Merryck), Tazalea Scott (Qualea & Bronc) LaKoya and Rob Thompson (LJ) and McKway Scott. And a sister MaryBeth (Jerry Reed)
