Jeanne Black, 68, passed away at Marion General Hospital, Marion, on September 2, 2018. She was born in Peru, Indiana on September 30, 1949 to the late Harry B. and Janet E. (Retherford) Sowash.

Jeanne was a 1967 graduate of Oak Hill High School and she attended Indiana Business College. On April 15, 1970 she married Robert D. Black. Mr. Black survives. She attended church at Jalapa Chapel. For 14 years she was a cashier at Walmart and was self-employed as a Standard Breed horse groomer. In her free-time she enjoyed sewing, word search puzzles, and spending time with her beloved dog, Misty.

Jeanne is also survived by her daughter, Stephanie L. Black, Marion; sisters, Trudy A, Sowash, Converse; Joanne (Thom) Young, Campbell Hall, New York; Julie A. (Gary) Green, Converse; brother-in-law, Jim McCann, Garden City, Michigan.

Jeanne is preceded in death by her brother, Jerry L. Sowash; sister, Patty A. McCann.

The funeral service will be held at 12:15 pm on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home Larrison-Martin Chapel, 308 East Marion Street, Converse, Indiana with Pastor James Schroeder officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 6, 2018 in the funeral home from 10:00 am to 12:15 pm. Burial will immediately follow at the Marion National Cemetery, 1700 East 38th Street, Marion, Indiana.
