In Memoriam.

Died. In Rankin county, near Jackson, March 31st, 1887, Mrs. Sallie McCain Topp, beloved wife of Mr. Allison Topp and sister of Mrs. Wm. L. Hemingway.

We are told that the good never die; well has it been written:

Life is real, life is earnest,
And the grave is not its goal,
Dust thou art, to dust returnest
Was not written of the soul.

Her mortal remains were taken to Carroll county to be interred in the old family burying ground, there to rest beside her parents, and with them return to dust, while her soul, beautified by a life well spent in the practice of every Christian grace and virtue, will live forever.

Not dead, but living in the angel land above.
There to enjoy forever God's presence and his love.
Weep not for her bereft ones, bear with fortitude this loss.
Which gives her a crown in Heaven, you on earth a cross.
Bear it with strength and patience, God's wisdom ever own.
Your reward will be a meeting, where parting is unknown.
