Mildred Barnett was born December 31, 1918 in Volga, Texas. She was the daughter of Clay and Annie Goodrum. Mildred passed away on August 1, 2018 at Avalon Place of Trinity, Texas at the age of 99 years old. Mildred enjoyed dancing, fishing, cooking, playing 42, gardening and the art of crochet. She lived most of her life in Houston and Trinity County and resided at Avalon Place for last 15 years. The staff of Avalon fell in love with her and they loved her truly. She was a treasure and will be missed by all that knew her. Mildred is survived by, three grandchildren: Paul Cox and wife Holly of Hockley, Bryan Cox and wife Erica of Magnolia, Julie Kurihara and husband Marcus of Houston., six great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, former daughter in law Linda Cox of Spring. Guardian and caregiver of 15 years Dena DeBreaux. Preceded in death by son Avery Brendle Cox, parents Annie and Clay Goodrum, Sisters Ethel, Kenney and Udie and 3 brothers, husbands Leo Cox and Luther Barnett. Any donations can be made to Alzheimers Association. Funeral services was held at Waller-Thornton Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 8, 2018, with Rev. Daelyn West officiating. Burial followed in Salem Cemetery, Houston County, Texas.
