Evangeline Hestekin, of Mondovi, formerly of rural Independence, WI was 98 years of age when she passed away on Friday, August 31, 2018 at the American Lutheran Home, Mondovi. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin; two sons, Wayne and Warren; two brothers, Galvin (Thelma) and Lloyd Kolve; a sister, Arlene (Clayton) Engum; two grandchildren, Jennifer Hestekin and Jason Hollister; a great-grandchild, Brianna Hestekin.

Evangeline was born August 12, 1920 in Trempealeau County, to Eddie I. and Delia (Erickson) Kolve. She married Ervin J. Hestekin September 7, 1940 in Mondovi, Wis. He died September 7, 2015.

The couple farmed in Trempealeau County for 15 years and then purchased his father's farm in Buffalo County in 1955. They farmed there until 1988 and purchased a hobby farm in rural Independence. She continued to live there following her husband’s death until moving to Mondovi in 2016.

She was a member of Lookout Lutheran Church. Evangeline enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening, quilting and farming.
