CHASE, Kan. -- Mildred J. White, 85, died Tuesday (May 1, 2007) at Ralph Thorne Care Center in Hutchinson, Kan.

She was born Oct. 26, 1921, in Boonsboro, Md., to Foster Beard and Effie Catherine (Cline) Kephart.

She married LeRoy Kirsch in 1941, he preceded her in death on Jan. 4, 1970. She worked at Fairchild Aircraft as a Rosie the Riveter, during World War II. She was also a baker at the Hotel Ly-Kan and a clerk at Duckwall's in Lyons, Kan. She also worked as a homemaker.

On March 7, 1991, she married Willias B. White in Chase, Kan., he preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 2003. She moved to Hutchinson in 2003.

She was a longtime member of the former St. Mary's Catholic Church and Altar Society of Chase. She was also a member of the Liar's Fishing Club and VFW Ladies Auxiliary since 1970 in Lyons.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, LeRoy Kirsch and Willias White and four brothers, Fred, Clyde, Cecil and Paul Kephart.

Survivors include her three daughters, Carol Mitchell of Hutchinson, Kan., Sharon Hoverter of Frederick, Colo., and Janet Gray of McCook; one brother, Jesse Kephart of LaVista; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday, 3 p.m., at Sillin Funeral Home in Lyons, with the Rev. Robert Spencer officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Chase.

Visitation will be Thursday from 2-5 p.m., at Sillin Funeral Home and Friday from 9 a.m., until the time of service.

Memorials may be given to Odyssey Hospice or American Heart Association in care of Sillin Funeral Home of Lyons.
