Mrs. Nettie Lee Johnson was born Nettie Lee Conwright on December 25, 1919 in Hallsville, Texas. She was the youngest of Ned and Mattie Conwright’s seven children. She was preceded in death by her siblings J.P., Bessie, Roberta, Beulah, Layla, and Alice.

Mrs. Johnson married Ora Asa Johnson, Sr., an educator and entrepreneur on December 25, 1933 and to their union was born five children: Ora Asa Johnson Jr. {deceased}, James Johnson Sr., Willie Fred Johnson Sr., Reva Johnson, and Helen Johnson. The love of her life died on August 20, 2003 after sixty-seven years of marriage.

Mrs. Johnson was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She saw to it that her children had spiritual nourishment, loving care, and material comforts. She will live on in the hearts and memories of all those that knew her and loved her.

Mrs. Johnson was dedicated to God and became an active member of New Zion Church of Christ at an early age and remained faithful for more than 75 years.

Mrs. Johnson died in the early hours of August 14, 2018 at Longview Regional Hospital.

She is survived by her two sons, James Johnson Sr. (Eloise) Longview, TX; Willie Fred Johnson Sr. (Jean) Diana, TX; two daughters, Reva Johnson (Lorenzo) Missouri City, TX; Helen Stevenson Austin, TX; one daughter-in-law, Larnell Johnson, Marshall, TX; grandchildren: Larnetta Little, Lydia Christian, Ora Gibson, Sherry Williams, Wendy Neuls, Bridget Johnson, James Johnson Jr, Angela Shaw, Willie Fred Johnson Jr., Gayle Johnson, Darrell Hopkins Jr., Lorenzo Johnson Jr., Angel Brown, Charles Patterson Jr., thirty-eight great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and other friends.
