Joseph David was born on June 13, 1928 in Lafayette, Louisiana. His parents were Joseph Dudley and Dorothy (Landry) David. Joseph entered the Merchant Marines when he was fifteen and joined the Navy when he was seventeen. He moved to Normangee in 1952 where he owned and operated a Dairy for ten years. In 1965, he moved his family to League City where they resided until 1980. During that time, Joseph flew solo in 1978 and received his pilot’s license. In 1980, Joseph moved back to Normangee where resided until his death. He was a manager of the Madison County Water District, and the City Manager for the City of Normangee from 1980-1985. Joseph was also awarded “Man of the Year” for the City of Normangee in 1985. He was a very creative and talented craftsman and helped design the Bethlehem Lutheran Church Parsonage and Parish Hall, of which he was also a longtime member. Joseph passed away on November 10, 2017 in Franklin, Texas. He was preceded in death by both of his parents; brothers, Clifford & Donald David and sister, Jeanie David.
Survivors include wife, Margaret David of Normangee; son, Joe Alvin “Butch” David & wife, Susie, of Chandler, AZ; daughter, Brenda Streater & husband, Darrell, of Marquez and special friends, Noris Theiss, Gladys Watson & John Wolfington. Joseph is also survived by grandchildren, Rachel Streater, Joey David & Jeff David and great grandchildren, Luke, Lila, George & Charlie David.
Pallbearers are John Turner, Larry Adcock, Larry Grimes, David Martin, David Kelley & Mark Schusler. Honorary pallbearers are George Stokes, Pastor Loeschman, Pastor Harris, Darrell Streater & Jim Baumgartner.
