Carolyn F. Hoffman, 75, died May 25, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family and loved ones following a 10 year battle with breast cancer.
She was the wife of Garth E. Hoffman. They were married for 55 years. Born January 5, 1943 in Mount Holly Springs, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Hollis (Cullings) Fuehrer.
Growing up she assisted her father in breeding and showing champion German Shorthaired Pointers. Carolyn was a 1960 graduate of Boiling Springs High School ("The Bubblers"). After graduating high school, she attended Hagerstown Medical Secretarial School and graduated in 1961. Carolyn was an active volunteer at the York Hospital Gift Shop. She later opened and co-owned the gift shop Persnickety for 23 years with her best friend, Barb Sindicich. She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and belonged to Women in Mission. She was involved in the Garden Club of York and the York Women's Association (formerly the Young Women's Club of York). She enjoyed vacationing in Fenwick Island, DE with her family and on Lake Bonaparte, NY with her dear friends, Barb and Rich. Carolyn was very passionate about her grandchildren and loved spending time with them.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two sons, Garth A. Hoffman and wife, Maddie of York and Scott D. Hoffman of New Hope; her daughter, Jill H. Walton and husband, Doyle of Doylestown; her seven grandchildren, Demi, Gigi, Teague, Skye, Lark, Hollis, and Beckett; and her beloved dog, Senta.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 397 Tyler Run Road, York, with her pastor, the Rev. Richard D. Smith, officiating. A visitation will be held Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. A private burial will be held Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Westminster Cemetery, 1159 Newville Road, Carlisle. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Patient Help Fund, c/o WellSpan York Health Foundation 50 N. Duke Street, 2nd Floor York, PA 17401 or to Aldersgate Women In Mission 397 Tyler Run Road, York, PA 17403. Arrangements by the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 1111 E.
