BICKEL, Janice Beatrice Gaskins, 83, of Umatilla, Florida died Friday, January 16, 2004 after a long illness. Mrs. Bickel was born on March 31, 1920 in Bronwood, Georgia to the late Homer Lee Hodge and Nora Hooks Hodge. She met and married the late Walt Gaskins and lived in Berrian County and Atkinson County a number of years before moving to Florida. She later married James (Jim) Bickel. She retired in 1984 from nursing after many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her daughters, Betty and husband Roger Tumbleston of Eustis, Florida; Jean and husband J.B. Smith of Grand Island, Florida; Juanita Cameron and fiance, Joe Reeves of Leesburg, Florida; sons, Kenneth and wife, Betty Gaskins of Naylor, Georgia; Brinston and wife, Betty Gaskins of Lake Placid; James and wife, Sue Gaskins of Arcadia, Florida; Jesse and wife, Jeannie Gaskins of Lake Placid; sister, Doris Arden of Savannah, Georgia; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Hodge of Lake Wales, Florida; and Bonnie Hodge of Savannah, GA; twenty grandchildren, twenty six great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. The viewing will be Sunday, January 18, 2004 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Chandler Funeral Home Chapel in Lake Placid. A second viewing will be held Mon., Jan. 19, 2004 from 1-2 pm in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with funeral services to follow at 2 pm.
