MEDFORD Funeral services for Mrs. Roman Hommel Sr., 85, who died at Memorial Hospital Monday, were to be held this morning (Wednesday) at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. The Rev. Joseph Miller officiated and burial was made in the Medford Catholic cemetery. The former Clara Leininger was born at Genesee, Ill., on May 28, 1882 and received her education there. She was married to Roman Hommel Sr. at Plankinton, S.D., on Oct. 26, 1912, and after their marriage the couple lived at Thompson, Iowa. They moved to a farm in the town of Little Black in 1920, and retired from farming in 1947 to move to the city of Medford. Three years ago she entered the Memorial Nursing Home. Survivors are two sons, Sylvester Hommel, St. Francis, S.D., and Roman Hommel Jr., Medford, three grandchildren, a brother, John Leininger, Albert Lea, Minn., and two sisters, Elizabeth Adams, Genesee, and Mrs. Rose Baldus, Story City, Iowa. Her husband died in 1964.
