Billy Jackson Boyd, age 83 of Puryear, TN, died Thursday, August 30, 2018, at his residence in Puryear, TN.
He formerly worked at Celotex for 17 years until its closing. Billy then went on to work for Dana Corporation until his retirement. He was also a farmer for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and many other kinds of sports. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was Church of Christ in belief.
Billy was born April 6, 1935, in Buchanan, TN, to the late Burton Burgess Boyd and the late Nina D. Jackson Boyd.
He was married June 3, 1961, to Sally Ann Charles Boyd, who survives, of Puryear, TN.
Along with his wife, he is also survived by two sons, Billy Jackson “Jacky” (Pam) Boyd, Jr., of Paris, TN, and Charles Kevin Boyd of Puryear, TN; two sisters, Annie Laura Lafever of Paris, TN, and Ruby Fay Carter of McKenzie, TN; four grandchildren, Lowell Wayne (Andrea) Boyd, Morgan Nicole Boyd, Madison Leighane Boyd, and Matthew Harvey Boyd; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by three sisters, Lois Merrell, Addie Dee Merrell, and Jessie Bee Claxton; five brothers, Quinton Paschall Boyd, Harvey Hugh Boyd, Bonnie Brent Boyd, Joe Garvis Boyd, and William Dale Boyd; and one grandson, Ryan Blake Boyd.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN where visitation will be Saturday, September 1, 2018, from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm, with the funeral service beginning at 4:00 pm at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Church of Christ Cemetery in Buchanan, TN. Pallbearers for the service will be Donnie Wood, Tyler Wood, Johnny Boyd, Allen Knowles, Frankie Nance, Scott Braham, Timmy Nance, and Mike Savage.
