Agatha “Gay” Benton Long Harrington, age 71, entered Heaven’s gates on May 7, 2013. She died peacefully at Colleton Medical Center, after a brief struggle with cancer.
Gay was born on July 30, 1941 in Colleton County, SC, the daughter of Frank & Mary Benton and Irving & Margie Benton
She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family. In past years, she loved watching Nascar and football.
She was a lifelong member of Pine Grove Baptist Church where she participated in the choir.
Gay was predeceased by her loving husband of 13 years, Walter Harrington. Gay is survived by her son Tommy Long and his wife Cheryl, daughter Sonya Herndon and her husband Ricky, daughter Kathy Rahn. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Heather DeLong, Kenny Herndon, Brad Long, Randall Long, Taylor Long and Whitney Rahn. She had two great grandchildren Kennedy Rizer and Braylyn Long. She is also survived by two sisters, Ruby Reeside and Diane Bunton along with one brother I.M. Benton.
She resided at Colleton Courtyard with a dear friend Delaine Keisler. A special thanks to Reverend Ned Frownfelter and all the staff at Colleton Courtyard for their loving care and devotion.
