Charlotte – Mr. Arnold Dean Jones Sr., 78, went home to be with Jesus, on Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, NC.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 31, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Forest Lawn West, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, September 2, 2018 at Shady Brook Baptist Church, 2940 Belmeade Drive, Charlotte, NC, with Dr. George Sherman officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery, Charlotte, NC. Born April 13, 1940, in Saluda, Polk County, North Carolina, Dean was one of four children born to Loice A. Jones and Josephine Hill. Dean was a Vietnam Veteran who served four years as a crew chief in the United States Air Force. He was a retired professional truck driver, logging over four million accident-free miles during his career.
Dean married Rose Camille Thrailkill of Charlotte, on March 9, 1968. He was a faithful and devoted husband, father, and PawPaw, who loved his wife, children, and grandchildren dearly. Dean was an active long-time member and Deacon of Shady Brook Baptist Church. He never hesitated to share his unwavering faith and love for Jesus with others. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Camille Thrailkill Jones of the home; his three sons and their spouses, Dean “Chip” Jones, Jr. (Tracy), Robert Christopher Jones (Kelly), Charles David Jones (Miranda), six grandchildren, Andrew Douglas Jones (Jianni), Tyler Dean Jones, Katie Allison Jones, Ava Marie Jones, Teagan Rose Jones, and Abigail Grace Jones and his step-grandchildren Kristen Cummings (Mike), Justin Cummings (Chynna), Jason Cummings (Alexis), Whitney Crain (Brier), Kailey Webb, Hannah Wright, and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Dean was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter Lloyd Jones, and Robert Benjamin “RB” Jones, and a sister, Joicelyn Diane Jones Ward.
Isaiah 40:31 31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
