Jean Hammonds, age 77 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Wednesday, August 29, 2018.

Born Saturday, November 30, 1940 in Dodson, Louisiana, she was preceded in death by her parents, Jim Vines and Bess Bland Vines; husband, Tom Hammonds; sister, Flora Boyler; and brother, Bobby Ray Vines.

Mrs. Hammonds was a member of Hurricane Creek Baptist Church for over 50 years. She served as the church secretary for 25 years. Mrs. Hammonds loved her family and grandchildren most of all. She loved to cook and her meals were wonderful. Her favorite thing to do was taking family pictures and family outings. It didn’t matter where she went, she just liked to go, and take photos.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Susie Potts (Ronnie) and Bobbie Sue Godwin (Jerry); sons, James Hammonds and Tommy Hammonds (Ellen); grandchildren, Jeromy, Scotty, Kyle, Samantha, Von, Nick, Shannon, and Chad; 16 great grandchildren; brother, Pete Vines; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 31, 2018, at Hurricane Creek Baptist Church, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, and again on Saturday, September 1, 2018, at Hurricane Creek Baptist Church, from 9:00 AM until time of services.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at Hurricane Creek Baptist Church with Reverends Ted Sharbono and Rayford Chandler officiating. Interment will follow in Hurricane Creek Cemetery, in Dodson under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.

Serving the family as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jeromy Lawson, Scotty Lawson, Nick Hammonds, Von Godwin, Shannon Hammonds, Kyle Potts, and Chad Hammonds.
