Katherine Janelle Pierce gained her angel wings Monday evening August 27, 2018, in Lubbock, Texas. Born in Mosheim, Texas to H. Curtis Watson and Ruby Lillian Oswald in 1934, she grew up in Lubbock with 8 siblings. In 1952 she married D.E. “Gene” Pierce and for 45 years they built a life together working, attending church, and raising a family in Odessa, Texas.

Janelle leaves behind a legacy of stewardship and service to her church and community. She worked at Sears as the head cashier for 36 years. A member of Crescent Park Baptist Church since 1956, Janelle sang in the choir and served with many different ministries. She also volunteered time and gave generously to a local charity, Servants of the Poor and Cancer Society of America.

She is survived by two daughters Charlotte Pierce McCain and husband Jerry Dale, Leisa Nunnelee and husband Michael, both of Fort Worth, Texas, a step son, Quinton Pierce of McKinney, Texas. Four grandchildren: Alisha Jordan McDonald and Mac, Sarah Ellis Roberts and Shane, Kayce Ellis Street and Tanner, Courtney Jordan, as well as nine great grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, W.H. Watson and wife Eva Sue of Meridian, three sisters: Betsy Horton of Lubbock, Texas, Eva Sorrells of North Richland Hills, Texas and Willie Dragoo and husband Robert. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by parents H.C. and Ruby Watson, her husband D.E. “Gene” Pierce, three sisters: Joyce Rikert, Antoinette Moyers, and Patsy Narmour, one brother, Wayne Watson.

The family would like to thank the countless friends and extended family who have been a part of Janelle’s life.

Visitation with the family will be on Friday, August 31 from 9:30 - 10:30 am at Sunset memorial Funeral Home.

Funeral service is scheduled for 10:30 am Friday, August 31, 2018 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow immediately after the service at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
