ELGIN - Funeral service for Sara Rebecca Elkins Sanders, 77, will be held Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Lighthouse Christian Ministries with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Mark Sanders and the Rev. Virgil Bagwell will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Lighthouse Christian Ministries, 1500 Cherokee Blvd, Elgin, SC 29045.
Mrs. Sanders, wife of the late David Lee Sanders, Sr., entered into eternal rest Thursday, April 5, 2018. Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Joe and Agnes Turnipseed Elkins. She was a member of Light House Christian Ministries. She enjoyed crafts and playing BINGO at Heartland of Columbia.
Surviving are her sons, David Lee Sanders, Jr. of Elgin, Steve A. Sanders (Dalephine) of Lugoff; sister, Sandra Martin; brother, Glenn Elkins (Sylvia); and grandchildren, Rebecca Lynn Sanders, Leah Faye Sanders, Elizabeth Sanders and Jonathan Sanders; and great-grandchildren, Carolina Gambrell and Scarlett Jackson. She was predeceased by a sister, Glennie Mae McLean; and daughter-in-law, Linda Sanders.
