Ken Wiley of Findlay, OH and formerly of Delphos, OH passed away on August 28, 2018 at the age of 90 following a courageous battle with cancer. Born on March 17, 1928, to the late Harry Sr. and Elizabeth Wiley, Ken is survived by his wife of 68 years, Marilyn (Metzger) Wiley, whom he married on May 7, 1950. Ken was preceded in death by his brother, Harry "Jay" Wiley Jr. He is survived by his children Keith (Cathy) Wiley of Bellefontaine, OH, Barbara (Mike) Steinhauser of Sandusky, OH, Melinda (Scott) Boring of Columbus, OH, grandchildren Jeff (Nellie Jo) Wiley, Kim Wiley, Kevin (Megan) Steinhauser, Josh Boring, Beth (Kyle) Long, Beckie Boring, great-grandchildren Logan and Colin Steinhauser, and Caleb Wiley. Ken was a hard worker and known for his wit. In addition to being the starting quarterback for the Delphos-Jefferson High School football team for 3 years, Ken played in the band and was voted "Class Wit" by his peers. He worked at the Delphos Hardware store before being drafted into the Army where he served in Japan during the Korean conflict from 1952-1954. Following his time in the service of his country, he earned his accounting degree at Tri-State University (now Trine University) in Angola, IN and was one of the top 3 graduates in his class, being recognized as an excellent student. Ken was a life member of the American Legion, Amvets, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Elks, and the Bluffton Senior Center. Ken retired from his 33 year accounting positions with Marathon Oil Company in 1991. Ken has been an active member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church for many years. Ken enjoyed traveling with his wife to all 50 states, 7 European countries, 5 Central American countries, and Canada. He was a voracious reader, enjoyed swapping books with his friends, and often had several books in progress at a time. Ken was a member of the Millstream Woodcarvers and his work won Best of Show and the People's Choice Award both in woodcarving and woodburning. Ken continued to be known throughout his lifetime for his quick wit, sharp mind, and great sense of humor, which will be missed by all who knew him. Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 on Friday, August 31, 2018 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay. A funeral service (Pastor Jeff Motter officating) will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 11:00 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME in Findlay. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, where full military rites will be conducted by the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad. If you wish, contributions may be made to the Millstream Woodcarvers or St. Andrews United Methodist Church.
