Larry Vance Bailey, Sr. age 79 passed away Tuesday August 28, 2018 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

He was born October 8, 1938 in the Glendale Community of Chester County, the son of the late Roy Wilson and Mabel Katherine Johnson Bailey. He graduated from Chester County High School in 1956 and entered the U. S. Air Force and served at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, MS. He worked as a mechanical technician in the HVAC business all of his working career, working for J & A Mechanical, S.M. Lawrence also owned and operated Pappy’s Trading Post.

He was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church. He had pastored Sweetlips, Shiloh, Center Hill and Cedar Grove Baptist churches.

He was a member of the Henderson Masonic Lodge.

He enjoyed flea marketing, buying, selling and trading.

Mr. Bailey is survived by his wife, Nell Cox Bailey of Enville; four sons, Larry Vance Bailey, Jr. of Enville, Lee Bailey (Andrea) of Pinson, Adam Ables (Melissa) of Enville and Cody Lane Bailey of Enville and a daughter, Lorie Gann (David) of Henderson; six grandchildren; a brother, Don Bailey of Jackson and two sisters, Joye Connor of Henderson and Jan B. Cox of Henderson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Shirley Bailey.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Shane Connor and David Gregory officiating. Burial will follow in Unity Cemetery.
