Betty Ruth (Strang) Blackburn, age 75, a lifelong Atoka, OK resident, was born on Saturday, January 2, 1943, to John Harold and Ruth (Eaves) Strang, at Atoka, OK. Betty passed away on Monday, August 27, 2018 at Durant, OK.
She graduated Atoka High School in 1961. Betty was a homemaker and housewife. She worked at Cate's Drug Store in high school, worked for Faye Sherrill at the Smarte Shop and later for Von Howard's Dress Shop. She married David D. Blackburn on June 11, 1961 at Atoka, OK. They had 57 wonderful years together. Betty was a christian and attended church with her family at Grace Christian Fellowship in Ada, OK. Betty's greatest joy was spending time with her family. She enjoyed projects such as sewing, tending to her beautiful flowers, shopping and keeping in touch with family and friends on Facebook. She took great pride and joy in being a homemaker. She was an amazing cook, and a very creative for decorator, Betty had an extensive collection of bird figurines which were given to her by her husband David. Preparing for the holidays when all her family would be together was a great joy for her. The love she had for her Lord and Savior was evident to everyone she came in contact with. She found strength by spending time in God's word and worshiping Him in prayer and song. We thank her for the beautiful example of faith and the many prayers she took before the Lord on our behalf.

Blackburn of the home in Atoka, OK; son, Kevin Blackburn and Connie of Verona, MO; daughter, Kayla Golden and husband Wade of Ada, OK; sister, Peggy Ray of Owasso, OK; grandchildren, Jessica Fillmore and husband Aaron of Clarksville, TN, Brent Blackburn and wife Jessica of Claremore, OK, Destiny Golden of Ada, OK, Christyn Golden of Ada, OK; great grandchildren, Emmalynn Fillmore of Clarksville, TN, Ellie Fillmore of Clarksville, TN, Elisha Blackburn of Claremore, OK, Jude Blackburn of Claremore, OK; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
