Sally was the daughter of Ezekiel and Hannah Voss. She was baptized and made a member of the Calvary Baptist Church on Feb. 6, 1876. She married Dr. James H. Ingram of Vineland and Cape May before they sailed for China as medical missionaries under the American Board for Foreign Missions. They departed from San Francisco Sept. 21, 1887. Their first child, Edna was born August 13, 1888, but died early in life. Their second child, George was born sometime before 1890, but he also died young. Family notes suggest both children died from Scarlet Fever. Their third child, Ruth, was born Jan. 21, 1891. Sadly, Sally died at their compound in Tungchou, China some days after giving birth. She was just 23 years old.
