Anna Alberta Craighead Stroud, 96, passed into heavenly eternity Saturday, August 25, 2018, while being tenderly cared for at the Passages in New Orleans, Louisiana. Alberta was graced with long-life, health, and a sharp mind. Before relocating to Mandeville, Louisiana, five years ago, she was a long-time resident of Many, Louisiana. She and her husband, Danewood, spent most of their days and lives dreaming about raising up the next generation of young men through the Royal Rangers program. Not having any natural children of their own, this sparked a love and enthusiasm for the Royal Rangers which provided a platform for them to help mentor and “parent” thousands of young men into their destinies. Alberta’s natural, servant demeanor effortlessly served this mission well.

Alberta was the eighth child out of thirteen children born to Rufus and Bessie Collins Craighead. She was born in Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee, and eventually moved with her family to Oklahoma. She had many fond memories and stories of the halcyon days of living on the plains of Oklahoma, and her love for Christ was evident. She attended Southwestern Bible School in Oklahoma, Central Bible Institute in Springfield, Missouri, and the University of New Orleans, eventually earning B.A. in Elementary Education. She loved kids and taught school for over twenty years. But her true love was being with her husband, Danewood. She joyed in all of his adventures with the Royal Rangers and pastoring alongside him in various Assembly of God churches throughout their years together.

Funeral services will be held at Pendleton Assembly of God, 14152 Texas Hwy, Many, Louisiana, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 1. Visitation is scheduled at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 9891 Texas, Hwy, Many, Louisiana, between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Friday evening, August 31. Interment is at Pendleton Assembly. Pastor Daniel Davis will be officiating.

Alberta is survived by her brother, Rufus Clayton (R.C.) Craighead, Jr. and sister, Imogene Fuqua. She is preceded in death by her husband, Danewood Stroud, her parents, Rufus and Bessie Collins Craighead, and brothers and sisters as listed: Raymond, Ralph, Ruth Lorene, Charles Samuel, Georgia Nell, Lois, Helen Gertrude, William Richard, Mary Edith, Eugene Paul, and her step sister, Ora Belle.

She will be dearly missed and the world is a better place because of her.
