Dona Jean Brooks, 72 of Parma, died Saturday, April 4, 2009, at home surrounded by her loving family. A celebration of Dona's Life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 9, at Dakan Funeral Chapel, 5th & Bates, Parma.

Dona was born July 28, 1936, at Minneapolis, Minn., to Frank and Velma May Higgins. She was 15 minutes older than her twin sister, Doris.

Dona moved with her family to Jefferson, Ore., where she was raised and educated. Dona married Kenneth Burris in 1955 and from this marriage, Jerry Kenneth, Jeff Allen and Laurie Ann were born. Kenneth passed away in 1972.

Dona moved with her children to Healdsburg, Calif., to be closer to family. She married Darrell Brooks in 1973 and they moved to Idaho to begin a new life together.

Dona lived her life for her family. Her love of life was a joy to be around. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Dona is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 35 years, Darrell; children, Jerry Burris of Kimberly, Jeff Burris of AK, Laurie (Chad) Gibson of Wilder, Shelly (Mark) Sutliff of Santa Rosa, CA, Denise (Faran) Cimino of Santa Rosa, CA; 12 grandchildren, Aaron, Andrew and Trevor Burris, Tanya Lowder, Curtis McDaniel, Cassandra, Bradley and Fletcher Sutliff and Cameron, Brina and Dillon Cimino; three great-grandchildren, Tylee and Jase Lowder and Elizabeth Rose McDaniel; four siblings, Doris Hearn of Parma, Joyce Robnett, Judy Higgins, both of Healdsburg, CA and Jack Higgins of Albany, OR.

Dona was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Burris; brothers, Gerald and Ronnie Higgins; and her parents.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to St. Alphonsus Cancer Care Center Nalen Fund, 1055 N. Curtis Road, Boise, ID 83706-1309.
