born September 20, 1932 in New Palestine, IN, to Clarence Smith and Georgia (Travelstead)

After completing her education at N.P.H.S., she later met and married her husband,
Robert Lee Harper on March 4, 1951. He preceded her in death on February 15,2017.
Jo Ann began her work career at Western Electric as a secretary. She was employed
several years as the school secretary at New Palestine Elementary. Her general office work
for Ft. Harrison served the engineering division. Her great joy in life came from her love
of music and flower gardening.
JoAnn is survived by her son, Mark (Joyce) Harper; Pam(Thomas) Dykes; daughter, Angela
Morton; son, Bryan (Vickie) Harper; and daughter, Valerie Henderson.
In addition to her husband Robert Lee Harper, Jo Ann was preceded in death by her parents; as well as her
brother John Smith.
She will be laid to rest at New Palestine Cemetery.
