Mrs. West, 61, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, at Mercy Hospital, Springfield after a sudden illness. She was born in Wichita, Kansas, to June (Stephens) and Larry West.
She attended kindergarten in Wichita and first-third grades in Billings, Montana. She attended school in El Dorado Springs from fourth grade through high school, graduating in 1974. She attended Southern Missouri State, in Springfield, where she was awarded her BA in social work in 1979, and then went to Houston, Texas, where she worked for several years. At the time of her death, she was employed by Compass Health as an integrated health specialist at Missouri Psychiatric and Rehabilitation Center in El Dorado Springs.
Survivors include the love of her life, Mike Norman; her father, Larry West and wife Carolyn of El Dorado Springs; two brothers, Kirk West and wife Diann of Chesterfield and Brad West of El Dorado Springs; a nephew, Adam West and wife Lauren of St. Louis; a niece, Sarah West Vols and husband Kyle of North Platte, Nebraska; an aunt, Sharon West Lansing and Jim Hargrave of El Dorado Springs; a cousin, Jeana D. Ochnser of El Dorado Springs; several other cousins and relatives; a dear friend from fourth grade, Rhonda Shellhorn Friar; a friend, Linda Beaty; and many others.
She was preceded in death by her mother, June, in 1990; and several aunts and uncles.
