Joshua Frank Chapman, age 25, passed away August 24, 2018, in Birmingham, Alabama, surrounded by his family. Joshua was born on December 2, 1992, in Mobile, Alabama. He was a graduate of Sprayberry High School in Marietta, Georgia, and attended Kennesaw State University. Joshua was a lover of music from an early age. Violin, guitar, piano: he had a talent for them all. He was happy to share his music abilities at many weddings and events over the years. He was a walking sports encyclopedia, who loved a spirited debate on any team. As a true foodie, it was a normal occurrence for us to plan trips around a restaurant or venue he wanted to try. Joshua was a gentle soul with a wonderful heart surrounding a tenacious warrior spirit that stood out as he faced every obstacle that life threw at him in stride. He had a way of making everyone feel special. Joshua taught us many lessons about acceptance and strength which will never be forgotten. His sense of humor would catch us off guard at times; he could make you laugh for days. He will forever be missed.

Joshua is survived by his mother, Monica Long Chapman; brother, Richard Grant Kelley (Kirby); his favorite baby girl, his niece, Joanna; grandparents, Jerry and Beatrice Long; Uncles and Aunts, Dale Long (Betty Kay) and Phillip Long (Hollie) of Gilbertown, Alabama; cousins, Dusty Long (Beth), Blake Long (Amanda), Kaleb Long, Christian Long, his favorite little ones: Landon, Tinsley, Rosalie and Ryder. Joshua was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Frankie Faircloth of Atmore, Alabama, and his great-grandmother Rosa Lee Ray of Barrytown, Alabama.

A Celebration of life will be held Saturday, September 1, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at Phillips Funeral Home in Gilbertown, AL.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to New Hope Church in Toxey, AL.
