Billy Hawkins, age 87, resident of Somerville, Tennessee and husband of the late Mildred Juanita Feathers Hawkins, departed this life Friday evening, August 24, 2018 at his residence.

Mr. Hawkins had a private interment at the Somerville City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel of Somerville.

Billy was born October 1, 1930 in Maud, Mississippi in Tunica County. He was married June 18, 1956 to the former Juanita Feathers and was the co-manager of Hawkins Big Star and co-owner of Hawkins Gulf before his retirement in 1988. Billy was of the Christian faith and was a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, doing yardwork, cooking out and helping his neighbors.

Mr. Hawkins is survived by two sons, Gregory Hawkins (Suzanne) of Somerville, TN, David Hawkins (Veronica) of Morristown, TN; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Juanita Feathers Hawkins who died March 5, 2007; his parents, James Fount Hawkins and Millie Beggs Hawkins; his son, Michael Shayne Hawkins; his sister, Alice Corr; and four brothers, Ralph Hawkins, John Thomas Hawkins, Raymond Hawkins and his twin brother, Robert “Bobby” Hawkins.
