Edward Louis Hernandez, age 19, of Costa Mesa California, died February 27, 1971, in a tragic car accident.
Eddie was helping friends move on Friday night and was killed when their auto collided head-on with a Costa Mesa Fire Department Battalion Chief’s car. All four persons in the car were ejected including the driver. The Battalion Chief was on his way to a fatal fire without red lights or siren when the accident occurred. The Battalion Chief’s vehicle crossed over the double line and was hit, said the California Highway Patrol.
Those left behind to cherish his memories include his parents, Louis and Lucille Hernandez; two brothers, Michael and Mark Hernandez; sister Linda Hernandez; maternal grandmother, Mrs Anna (De La Torre) Hernandez, Cheyenne, Wyoming; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Adalberto Hernandez; and paternal grandparents, Amancio and Maria (De La Luz Reynoso) Hernandez.
A Rosary is scheduled for 7 PM Monday at St Joachim’s Catholic Church, Costa Mesa, CA. Requiem Mass, 9 AM, Tuesday. Interment at Good Shepherd Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Baltz Costa Mesa Mortuary.
