Bobby (Bob) Watkins, 82, passed away at his home in Bisbee on June 21, 2013.
He was born on Sept. 7, 1930, at the Copper Queen Hospital to Bert and Maude Watkins.
He graduated from Bisbee High in 1948 and was appointed to the U.S. Naval Academy and graduated in 1952. He became a pilot for the Navy until he resigned his commission to come home in 1959.
Bob started selling real estate in and around Bisbee soon after and even had an adobe brick factory near Huachuca City for awhile. He opened Watkins Realty in Sierra Vista in 1960, which later became Sierra Vista Realty. He also started Bisbee Realty and Tombstone Realty. Bob was one of the founders and first presidents of the Sierra Vista Area Association of Realtors and MLS, along with the Sierra Vista Real Estate Exchangers. He also had other businesses in Bisbee and Sierra Vista. At one time, the Sierra Vista Chamber of Commerce office was housed in his office. He was very involved in the Sierra Vista and Cochise County community and served on many local and state boards and commissions.
Bob was an avid golfer and could be found on the course almost every Tuesday and Thursday. He loved to fly his plane to Alamos, Mexico. He was an active member of the Perfect Ashler 12 Masonic Lodge, as well as the Trinity United Methodist Church in Bisbee.
Bob is preceded in death by both his parents; sister, MaryLou; brothers, George and Gerald.
Survivors are his wife of 37 years, Janet; his three children with his first wife, Ann: Nathan Watkins (Jackie), Beth Hughes (Mike), and Jennifer Douglass (James); four stepchildren, Vicki Oertel (Brian), Sally Holcomb (Rod Kass), Jim Holcomb (Anne), and Stephen Holcomb (Shawn); 21 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Bob Watkins' cremains apparently were originally interred at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Bisbee, Arizona.
