Son of James Albert Hurford and Mary Ann Bird. Born in Kent, England, and the family came to the U.S. when he was only a few months old.

Married Laura Ellen Crousen, 10-12-1890, Vernon, Wilbarger Co, TX.

Throckmorton County Rancher is found dead in home

T J Hurford, 78, who resided 8 miles southeast of Woodson died suddenly in his home last night.
Mr. Hurford was found dead by Mrs. Hurford who Saturday was in the hospital here suffering from the shock.
Funeral arrangements were being made by the Kiker funeral home, the announcement pending arrival of relatives.
Mr. Hurford was born in England and came to the United States as a child. He lived in Iowa and moved to Throckmorton County in 1900 where he has been a stock farmer for many years.
Survivors are his wife; four daughters: Mrs. Bertie Lipps of Woodson, Mrs. Dollie Condron of Throckmorton, Mrs. Edna Dyer of Marlow Oklahoma and Mrs. E Z Stoker of Woodson; two sons, Jimmie and Bill Hurford of Woodson. There are 25 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister Mrs. Lilly Dyer of Roy, New Mexico.
