MELVIN J. "MEL" SORENSEN
Beloved husband, father and grandfather, Melvin J. "Mel" Sorensen, age 62, passed away December 19, 1994 at his home.

Born July 6, 1932, central Utah to Christian and Netta Sorensen. Married and divorced [Alice Agnella Wood].

Married Ionia Ann Wilson on June 23, 1964, Jackson, Wyoming. Marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Member of the LDS Church. He has served as a ward clerk and as a scout master, and was currently serving as High Priest Group Leader. Veteran of Korean War. Melvin was always willing to help others and was a friend to all. He loved working in his flower garden.

Survived by wife, Salt Lake; children, Robert (Eve), Logan; John, Salt Lake; Mrs. David (Jodi) Greenwall, Salt Lake City; James, Michigan; Patsy Ball, Las Vegas; five grandsons; six brothers, Orril E., Tucson, Ariz.; Fukan, Springville; Morris, Westminster, Colo.; Merrill, Salem, Utah; Dolan, Watsonville, Calif.; Val, Layton; three sisters, Mrs. Edward (Nancy) Anderson, West Valley City; Mrs. George (Christie) Atwood, Spanish Fork; and Mrs. Charles (Utahna) Summerhays, Lake Havasu, Ariz. Preceded in death by parents and two brothers, R.G. and David Sorensen.

Funeral services will be held, Friday, December 23, 1994, 11 a.m. at the Brighton 6th Ward, 3001 E. Bengal Blvd. (7600 So.). Friends may call at the Cannon Mortuary, 2460 E. Bengal Blvd. (7600 So) Thursday from 6-8 p.m. and from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church the day of the service. Interment, Mountain View Memorial Estates.
