Eugene Burton, 74 passed away early Saturday morning August 25, 2018 at home in Irmo, SC. He was born in White Rock, SC on March 19, 1944, son of the late Jessie and Helen Burton.
He loved gardening, fishing and he was self- taught in the skills of carpentry, in which he could craft and build anything for anyone. His natural love for all things wood, superseded, by his love for people; especially his family. His infectious smile and legacy will be permanently engraved in our hearts for years to come.
He is survived by his spouse: Shirley Burton; and his four daughters: Felicia (Steffone) Lybrand of Columbia, SC, Jeannene (Rodney) Miller of Columbia, SC, Leucretia Burton of Irmo, SC and Eugenia (George) Wooten of Irmo SC; his nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; eight siblings and their spouses; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service was held on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 11 AM at St. Paul A.M.E. Church, 835 Kennerly Road, Irmo, SC 29063. Interment following funeral service at Hopewell A.M.E. Church Cemetery, 1016 Hopewell Church Road, Irmo, SC 29063. Bostick Tompkins Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
