Louisville - Charles Lee Hyde, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on August 20, 2018 after a battle with liver and pancreatic cancer at the age of 70. He was a patient in the Hospice Unit at the Robley Rex VA Medical Center in Louisville, Kentucky.

Charlie was born in Toledo, Ohio to William Raymond and Fern (Grundy) Hyde. He grew up in Whiteford, Michigan and graduated from Clay High School in Oregon, Ohio in 1965. In 1966-69, he served as a Spec 4 in the Missile Ordinance in the Army, stationed in South Korea and later at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He earned his Associate's degree in Accounting at Davis College in Toledo, Ohio. He worked as a machinist for Conrail Railroad and other railroads. He also served at various levels in the IAM (Machinist) Union. He had also worked in Maintenance at a local hotel and later for commercial buildings in Kentucky. He met his wife Jeannette in November 1991 in Louisville, Kentucky and they married on May 27, 2000. He was the most wonderful and loving husband, father and friend.

He is survived by his wife, Jeannette (Sonne) of Louisville, Kentucky; his daughters Lora (Tom) Fischer of Whitehouse, Ohio and Brenda (Tom) Kelley of Sylvania, Ohio; his mother Fern Hyde of Louisville, Kentucky; sister Diana (Mike) Holton of Roselle, Illinois and brother Darrell Hyde of Toledo, Ohio. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Camryn and Logan Kelley of Sylvania, Ohio and his ex-wife/mother of his children, Son (Kim) Hyde of Erie, Michigan. He is preceded in death by his father William and brother, William Robert (Bill).

The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful attention, caring, compassion and love Charlie and we received from those we encountered from the VA Medical Center and the Hosparus Center in Louisville, Kentucky. They all helped us get through a very difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, we ask to consider a donation to your local VA Medical Center or Hospice Center and to also consider organ donation.

Per Charlie's wishes cremation was chosen and he will be interred at a later date at Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.
