Tony Fletcher Roberts passed away Monday, September 26, 2016 at his home in North Asheville. He was the owner of City Transmission Service for 45 years in downtown Asheville.
A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Oscar and Carrie Roberts of Flat Creek. He had many careers in his life, early he ran Stockton Motor Company and Tony's Drive-In. Later in his life he rose through the company at Interstate Life Insurance to become District Manager in Charlotte, NC. In 1971 he opened City Transmission Service at 39 Banks Ave. before moving to it's current location at 51 Southside Ave.
A wonderful husband to his wife Mae A. Roberts and loving father to his daughter Cindy. His life reflected the love he had for God and his fellowman. A former member of Abernethy United Methodist Church and current member of Central United Methodist Church. His faith was silent but it permeated all his actions.
He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Roberts and son-in-law Scott Edwards; a special caregiver and daughter by choice, Connie McMinn; sisters, Betty Patton and Christine Burleson; brother, Gary Roberts.
A special thanks to his wonderful family of nurses and Dr. James Cummings for being a part of our family.
