Hugh Fenton “Punch” Brannon, 84, of Cross Junction, Va., died Monday, Feb. 9, 2015, at his home.

Born Jan. 8, 1931, in Cross Junction, he was the son of the late Thomas J. and Elizabeth O. Luttrell Brannon. Also preceding him in death was a great-grandson, Bailey Brannon.

He was an orchardist, farmer and a timberman.

Surviving along with his wife of 61 years, Ella J. Shifflett Brannon whom he married March 21, 1953, in Hancock, Md., are 3 sons, Richard L. “Rick” Brannon of Winchester, Va., Rodney H. Brannon and wife Sherri of Whitacre, Va., and Bruce F. Brannon and wife Melana of Cross Junction; 4 daughters, Brenda E. Stotler and husband Don of Winchester, Diana L. Spaid of Cross Junction, Donna Kay Hartley and husband David of Winchester and Sharon D. Hederick and husband Steve of Bunker Hill; 2 brothers, Charles “Chuck” Brannon and Alfred “Ben” Brannon, both of Winchester; a sister, Winneta K. Brannon of Front Royal, Va.; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held at Giffin Funeral Home & Crematory in Capon Bridge, on Saturday, Feb. 14, with the Rev. Don Stotler and David Hartley officiating.

Interment followed in Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Cross Junction.
