At the residence of his daughter, Mrs. S. C. Yager, on Friday night, July 27th, 1894, at 9 o'clock, Mr. G. W. Buckles, aged 76 years, 4 months and 8 days. The deceased was a kind and honorable man and was well liked by all who knew him. He was born in Green county, Ohio, March 8, 1818, and came to Missouri in 1860, making his home for a number of years in Shelby county, but for the past eight years he has made his home with his daughter in this city. He was married to Elizabeth Ann Wakely, on June 5th, 1839, and lived a contented life with her until she died on August 9th, 1888. Mr. Buckles united with the Baptist church in 1852 and was ever since a faithful member. The funeral services were conducted at the residence on N. Fourth street by Rev. J. W. McManaway on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, after which the members of Maj. Wilson Post, G. A. R. took charge of his remains and they were laid to rest in the city cemetery.
