Betty Lou Ashley, 85, of Elkin, passed away, Saturday, July 23, 2016 at
Chatham Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Betty was born in Surry County on
February 17, 1931 to the late Thomas Marion Baker and Mamie Cheek Baker. In
addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Mack
Ashley, brothers; Arvil Baker, George Baker and Grady Baker. She is
survived by her son, Doug Ashley and wife Cindy of Boonville,
grandchildren, Makenzie Ashley and Taylor Ashley, brother, Roy Baker and
wife Bonnie Kay, sisters; Pauline Mooney & husband Jerry, Barbara St. John,
Margaret Sneed and husband Herby, Dorothy Jester and husband Donnie. Also
several nieces and nephews. A Graveside Service will be held, Tuesday,
11:00 a.m., July 26, 2016 at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev.
John Pillsbury. Johnson Funeral Home of Elkin is serving the Ashley family.
