June 25 Ex-Alderman Edward B. Peirce died this morning in a hospital in Washington, DC, after a long illness, aged 76. Mr Peirce served in Co F, 2d Massachusetts Heavy Artillery, in the Civil War and was one of the oldest members of Post 42. G. A. R. He served on the city reception committee to the old 6th Massachusetts Regiment survivors on the 50th anniversary of the March through Baltimore. Mr Peirce had been employed by the New York. New Haven & Hartford and other companies and was one of the best informed men on manufacturing and mercantile matters in Lowell. Mr Peirce was a member of Kirk Street Congregational Church.
