Rachel Mitchell, 86, of Ozark, Mo. passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2018.
Rachel was a fan of all sports. She spent countless hours watching her grandsons play baseball. She was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and went to almost every home Missouri State Bears Basketball game.
Rachel loved anything involving family. She never missed sending a card or gift for birthdays and holidays. She loved her cat and was always willing to help others.
Rachel worked as a bank teller for over 40 years and retired when she turned 80. During that time, she made many special friends, both co-workers and bank clients.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred S. "Woody" Mitchell, and her brother, Kenneth Van Hooser and his wife Mary.
Rachel is survived by her brother, Elbert T. Van Hooser, Jr. (Sharon) of Louisiana, Mo.; son, Terry W. Mitchell (Stephanie) of Ozark, Mo.; grandchildren, Jason B. Mitchell (Elizabeth) of Atlanta, Ga., Aaron C. Mitchell (Katie) of Kansas City, Mo., Jamie Strong (Carl Joseph Ekstam) of Springfield, Mo., Amanda M. Moody (Canyon) of Los Angeles, Calif. and Audrey M. Pauls (Everett) of Springfield, Mo.; great-grandsons Ethan H. Mitchell, Ryan C. Mitchell both of Atlanta, Ga., and Heston Rush Moody of Los Angeles, Calif., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were be held on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, with Msgr. Thomas Reidy officiating.
Visitation was held from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service.
Burial was on Friday, February 16, at 2:00 p.m. at Riverview Cemetery in Louisiana, Mo.
