Dan was the son of Lloyd and Florence (Eaton) Todd. On March 3, 1972, he married Sigrid Heuer in Germany; together they raised two daughters and celebrated 46 years of marriage.

Dan was a proud Veteran having retired from the United States Army as a Staff Sargent but not before he served two tours of active duty in Vietnam. He subsequently retired from Martin-Marietta having worked there over 20 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #17 in Gibsonburg, the same community where he grew up as a young boy.

Dan enjoyed working on lawnmowers and doing small engine repairs and he attended S.C.R.A.P on a regular basis. He remained devoted to his family, especially his grandchildren.

A resident of Woodville, Dan passed away at home with his family by his side. In addition to his wife,Sigrid, Dan was survived by his daughters, Tina Sarabia and Sandra (Eric) Foos, both of Woodville; grandson, Brandon (Jennifer) Inks of Fremont; granddaughters. Autumn Foos and Emma Foos, both of Woodville; great-grandchildren. Mason & Grayson; sisters, Kathy Meyn of NM, and Mary Woissol and Sharon Donovon, both of Ashtabula; sister-in-law, Jean Roepke of Elmore; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William “Butch” Schmidt; sister, Paula Sherk; nephew, Thomas Crawfoot; and best friend, Tom Tille.

Visitation was held on August 26th at the Marsh & Marsteller Funeral Home, Woodville, OH, where additional visitation was held the following morning prior to the funeral service. Officiating was Rev. James Budke. Military honors were conducted at the committal service at Westwood Cemetery.
