Connie Gaye Johnston, 87, of GlenWood Park Retirement Village, Princeton, died Thursday, August 23, 2018 at her home. Mrs. Johnston was a member of Herndon Freewill Baptist Church and attended Faith Baptist Church in Oakvale.
Born November 9, 1930 in Wyoming County, she was the daughter of the late Henry Harrison Sizemore (Deceased) and Nettie Jackson-Sizemore (Deceased). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Johnston (1927-Deceased) whom she married on March 3, 1949 in Twin Branch, Wyoming County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, McDowell County, WV, 1949, Page 98, Application Date: February 28, 1949); one son, Billy Johnston (Deceased); and three siblings.
Survivors include six children, Verlin Johnston & wife Ellen Johnston of Arista Mountain, Frankie Johnston of Sophia, Steve Johnston of Lashmeet, Vickie Johnston-Meadows of Princeton, Larry Johnston & wife Donna Johnston of Princeton and Michael Johnston & wife Marylou Johnston of Kegley; fifteen grandchildren; twenty five great grandchildren; and one great-great grandson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 27, 2018 at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with Rev. W.O. Tolliver and Pastor Terry Lambert officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.
