ALFRED H. BRIDGE - age 84 died peacefully at home on Oct. 17, 2006 . Born in Greenwich May 15, 1922 He was the son of the late Samuel F. Bridge Sr. and Ethel W. Bridge.

After graduating Greenwich High School in 1940 He worked for his uncle Rob's Auto Repair Shop. He enlisted in the US Army Airforce in 1942, achieved the rank of Tech Sergeant, Mechanical Gunner. He made 60 combat missions in Southern France, Romearno Germany and the European-African-Middle Eastern theater. He was awarded two battle stars, the air metal with 13 clusters, the presidents citation, the French citation (the Croix deGuerre).

After World War II he worked at Sikorsky Aircraft and then was employed by the Town of Greenwich for more than 37 years. He retired as a highway supervisor in 1984.

He was predeceased by three sisters, Betty May Bridge, Ethel M. Healy, Hilda Schupp and 1 nephew William Schupp.

He is survived by his brother Samuel F. Bridge Jr. of Greenwich, and his sister Doris Schupp of Bedford, NY. He is also survived by 15 nieces & nephews: Sue Martin of Stamford, James Healy of Greenwich, Beverly Schupp of Haines, Alaska, Carl Schupp of Greenwich, Warren Schupp of Bedford, NY, Nancy Schupp of Fairbanks, Alaska, Bill Healy of Greenwich, Gary Schupp of Saukrapids, MN, Mary Palmer of Greenwich, Sam Bridge of Greenwich, Robert Schupp of Bedford, NY, Ron Bridge of Bethlehem, CT, Jack Schupp of Greenwich, Dale Adler of Ft. Meyers, FL, Tommy Schupp of Sommers, NY. He also has 22 grandnieces and nephews and 11 great-grandnieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Fred D. Knapp & Son Funeral Home, 267 Greenwich Ave., Greenwich from 4-7 PM today, Fri. Oct. 20. Services will be held Sat. Oct. 21, at 11:00 A.M. in Stanwich Congregational Church, Taconic Road, Greenwich. Interment will follow in Putnam Cemetery. Donations may be made in his memory to Stanwich Congregational Church.
