Jerry Riley Sr., residing at 283 Midline Road (and formerly residing at 180 Jones Road), passed with his son by his side on Saturday, Aug. 11.

Born in Schenectady on Oct. 6, 1938, he attended and graduated from Nott Terrace High School (now Linton HS) where he was an active musician in the school band. He played the trombone, attended school, and held multiple jobs to help support his family.

After graduation, he became a dedicated lineman: he was a “career man” at Niagara Mohawk Power Corp, starting out in Schenectady, and then was promoted to their Amsterdam location in 1970.

He retired from NiMo with many, many fond memories. He enjoyed all of the people he encountered throughout his life, and was always the “consummate prankster”. (If you knew Jerry, you DEFINITELY knew this about him!)

He loved to dance, play cards, and enjoy life. Most of all… he would do anything he could for anyone; friends or strangers… it didn’t matter.

He will be truly missed by people he touched over the years, and those he touched for only a few minutes.

As per his wishes, no services are planned. Prayers are always welcomed.

Jerry Sr. is survived by his son: Jerry Riley, Jr. of Austin, Texas; and his grandchildren who all live in Austin, Texas: Chase Riley (23), Carson Riley (16), and Kate Riley (13).

Rest in Peace Dad… we love you and can’t wait to see you again.
