Peggy Evelyn Gilmer Chandler went to walk on streets of gold in heaven with our Lord, Tuesday, August 21, 2018. Funeral arrangements by Robertson Funeral Directors of Wheeler, TX. Visitation will be at the Funeral Home Friday, August 24 from 5:00-7:00 at Robertson Funeral Home, 311 N Wall St, Shamrock, TX. Graveside service will be at the Zybach Cemetery Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. with Rodney Weatherly officiating.

Peggy was born to Jesse Thomas and Bobbie Mae McDaniel Gilmer April 25, 1934. She was a resident of the Allison and Briscoe, Texas area most of her life. Peggy married Marvin Kenneth Chandler on August 26, 1951. Peggy loved God all of her life, and was a member of the United Pentecostal Church of Allison, TX. She enjoyed painting craft items and wood burning. Peggy's passion was cooking and she loved hosting Christmas Eve gatherings with family and friends. Peggy loved animals. She would not let a stray go hungry.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; 4 brothers, Grady, John, David Sr., and Ed Gilmer; 5 sisters, Josephine Giddens, Dorothy McNutt, Jennie Walker, Bettye Sue Stinnett, and Gertie Cornell; and child by choice Leon Eugene Boydston.

Those left behind to lovingly remember her include her daughters Valerie Young and husband, Bob, of Lubbock, Texas, Cindy Burrus and husband, Tony, of Canyon, Texas, her son, Brad Chandler and wife, Sue, of Wheeler, TX, her daughter Marki Stringer and husband, Ronnie, of Ardmore, OK; five children by choice, Linda Dobbs and husband, Larry, of Starkville, MS, Verline Curry of Big Springs, TX, Joyce Hurst of Sanford, FL, Kenny Boydston and wife, Sherry, of London, TN, and Keith Boydston and wife Margaret Ann of Beaumont, TX; grandchildren Angel Young Lambright, Tiffany Robinson, Bret Burrus, Jana Bartholomew, Bridget Weatherly, Chandler, Kinin & Jordan Stringer; great grandchildren Hunter Young, Chevy Cawlfield, Cavett & River Robinson, Jagger, Scout, Arissa, Aubrey & Addie Burrus, Audra &Hagen Weatherly, Janessa & Austin Bartholomew; one brother, J.W. Pete Gilmer.
