Emma L. (Ike) Chapman, 88, of Winchester, California passed away peacefully on Monday, August 20, 2018 at home.

Emma was born December 25, 1929, in McCook, NE to John and Grace (Amen) Ike. She grew up in McCook and received her education there. On February 4, 1944, she was united in marriage to Ralph R. Chapman in Georgia. Ralph was in the Army Air Corps, so the couple lived in Georgia and Florida. When Ralph was stationed in England, Emma moved to Tennessee.
Later, after Ralph retired, the couple moved to McCook where Ralph worked in construction and Emma worked at Montgomery Ward and later TRW. The couple raised their family there. In 1969, Ralph took employment in the Grand Island School System and the family moved to Grand Island. Emma worked for Coca-Cola making the soda syrup. The couple moved to San Jose, California in the mid 1980’s where Emma worked for Laboratory services. In 2004 the couple retired and moved back to Cairo Nebraska for roughly a year then they moved back to California where Ralph passed away in 2007. After Ralph passed away Emma moved to San Diego and later moved to Winchester where she passed away.
Emma was very attached to her rescue dog and constant companion, Roxie. She also loved spending time with her great grandkids.
She is survived by her daughters, Dianna (Tim) Alberts, of Dannebrog, NE, Helen Brott, of Sacramento, CA; seven grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Grace (Amen) Ike; husband, Ralph Chapman; son, Ron Chapman; grandson, Thomas Chapman; brothers, George Ike, Harold Ike, Harvey Ike; and a sister, Beulah Herron.
